Digital content production and audience behaviour analysis - 2007/8

Avril Digital provided a range of digital media production and consultancy services for Comic Relief in 2007/8.
Avril Digital produced Comic Relief’s
Christmas Cracker on Facebook, delivering a series of classic Christmas comedy clips in exchange for donations from the community.
Avril produced, edited and distributed the web video content for Cracknell’s Cross-Continent Challenge facilitating the Telegraph website’s coverage of the event. Footage gathered was also used by BBC TV during the main Sport Relief broadcast.
Avril Digital created and implemented a range of R&D tests around Donor Directed Disbursement for Sport Relief and also a sequence of test emails to establish the highest yielding communication format for donors in the USA.
Avril Digital was the consulting producer on the relaunch of the Dubble Chocolate website which is a Fair Trade venture supported by Comic Relief.
Comedy Demon
RDF Media

Avril Digital served as editorial consultant for RDF Media’s comedy video site, Comedy Demon.
Avril offered analysis and segmentation of the online comedy audience, their taste and behaviour together with an assessment of competitors in the market and recommendations on differentiation from other providers.
Building on this, RDF Media consulted Avril on the site’s content acquisition strategy and Avril Digital authored an Editorial Strategy document for the launch and first two years of operation.
Comedy Demon was an Official Honoree in the Broadband category at the 13th Webby Awards, 2009.

Silver Surfers' Day
Flash quiz with PHP/MySQL back-end

Avril Digital was commissioned by
Digital Unite and
NHS Choices to create an entertaining lifestyle quiz to enable users new to the web, to practice their HCI skills for Silver Surfers' Day in May 2010.
Avril conceived and created the
Act Your Age! Flash application to enable users to find out how their attitudinal age compared to their real age.
The application reported results to a MySQL database via a PHP script to enable post-activity analysis by Digital Unite.
Avril Digital delivered to budget and to a very tight deadline, taking the whole project from idea to completion in under 4 weeks. This included designing the interface, researching and creating all content and assets, implementing all programming logic in Flash/MySQL and PHP.

Sounds of the Larch
Wordpress-based, band website

Avril Digital was commissioned by Billy Witch Music to create a showcase website for the music and videos of psyche-folk-arthouse rockgroup,
Sounds of the Larch.
Utilising Wordpress as a content management system to enable the band to update the site independently, Avril adapted the
Reclamation Wordpress theme, integrating content feeds from YouTube, Twitter and Picasa and implementing a Flash MP3 player to enable listeners to sample the latest tracks.
Avril Digital advised on the set-up and integration of PayPal in order to process orders for the band's products.
